Venetian mask

Citeste in limba romana

Venice,Italy,February 26th 2011:Portrait of a person wearing a characteristic mask during the Carnival of Venice nights.
This year I discovered Venice.I consider this image a link between my old passion, Kyoto, and my new passion, Venice. This woman wears a traditional Venetian mask and a Japanese style parasol. The mask is white with contrasting red lips, which is a characteristic feature of the geisha’s face. This plus the red color of the costume and the parasol shift the viewer’s thoughts to the Japanese geisha.
